Of our local rivers, this is the last one I would choose for winter fishing. It is our most northern river, and high in elevation. Not a good combo in winter. Lots of edge ice, and with the already tricky wading conditions, the Blackfoot is not the most friendly winter fishery. But there is excellent snow pack up the valkley, and we are getting more snow every day, so that is boding well for this summer
