The South Holston is in a bit of a holding pattern at this point. All the attention is on the Caddis and Hendrickson's on the Watauga River. Despite that, fishing has been pretty good, and peaceful too. There are a few waining Blue Wings on those overcast days but nymphing has been producing quite well. We've been using small stuff though. Size 20-26 zebra midge larva, size 18 copper johns (black), size 20 blackfly larva. Good news is that if you have the evening off...the water has been running from 5-8pm and that can make for great streamer fishing this time of year.
