The Little Truckee has become inaccessible with current snow and will be accessible only by snowmobile or a long snowshoe trek.  Flows are at 45cfs and anglers are taking some nice fish by using tiny midge and BWO(baetis) dries and dead drifting tiny nymphs of these staple winter trout food sources.  Being that flows are low and crystal clear a stealthy approach is critical.  Perfect dead drifts, that sometimes have to be repeated several times, and light tippets from 6x to 8x are key to success here.  This section of Wild Trout water is being poached on a regular basis.  It’s up to you to protect it by calling 1-888-334-2258(DFG Caltip).
