Little Truckee River: Winter Regs-Between Boca & Stampede-Catch & Release Only!
The Little Truckee is still inaccessible past the inlet of Boca. Flows are at 125cfs and anglers should start to see fishing pick up here. Now that flows have been bumped up throwing a san juan worm or a glo bug might produce now. Nymphing Stoneflies with small baetis patterns behind them will also produce now. Hatches have been small stoneflies and baetis with sporadic midge activity. Perfect dead drifts, that sometimes have to be repeated several times are still necessary; and light tippets when trying to coax any rising fish when fishing dries. This time of year don’t be afraid to throw streamers at the inlet and deeper sections of this small river now the payoff can be a nice Brown or Rainbow. This section of Wild Trout water is being poached on a regular basis. It’s up to you to protect it by calling 1-888-334-2258(DFG Caltip).
