The River Conditions for G.R.Colford &
Sons on the Main South West Miramichi River in New Brunswick Canada.
This photo is from last summer at our main lodge.
The river is opening and jamming up here and there all through the Miramichi today. Some sections like up in the Doaktown area behind the Salmon Museum is open and had a few boats boating today, but they were very carefull watching for the upper ice jams! One boat told me they boated 12 salmon in that section alone.
From Blissfield down it is jamming and cracking in many places. The next few days we should see a good run off from the snow and get the water rising a bit more and the ice should be on its way!
It was a very nice day on the Miramichi and calling for the same warm days ahead. The water temperature was 37.7F today. Cold on the feet though when my buddy Ronnie Steeves got a little to close to the the edge when he went to his crutch!!in the water. Was he cold! Be carefull guys out there. Its very tuff wading through the snow to get to the river, there is about 3 1/2 feet when you break through the snow.
This is by the Mouth of Cains River on the Main South West Miramichi.
I will be back in the next day or two with a little more info for you and hopefully some better fish reports.
Tight Lines,
Rodney colford
