The River Conditions for G.R. Colford & Sons Limited on the Main South West Miramichi River in New Brunswick, Canada. With river conditions at its best on the SW Miramichi this spring, the catching is also very good! The water temperature is in the low to mid 40's and almost clear. And with very little grass floating and catching up on your fly, makes it so much easier to fish. The 7 day outlook for the weather is from 6C to 17C with light rain and clearing for the remainder of the week.
Up and down the river from Doaktown to Quarryville anglers are hooking up and having fun. Several big fish in the 35 to 45 inch range are being hooked.  There are also several grilse being hooked as well.
Flies for the area to name a few are Renous Special, Golden Eagle, Christmas Tree, Blue Smelt and Black Ghost. We are having great success with full sinking lines and hooking most fish on a cast. The barbless hook seems to be very good when releasing the fish back on it's way without hurting them. Hopefully other angler's will think the same. I will be away for a few days and will not be posting the river conditions until the 7th of May. I wish you all tight lines until then.
For the best Atlantic Salmon Fishing in The world.
Tight lines for now,
Rodney Colford
