For G.R.Colford & Sons Limited on the Main South West Miramichi River. The river conditions are very good even with the little raise we got yesterday. The water temperature is at 56 F. The water was clear the past few days but got a little dirty by the last evening and then cleared again over night.
The past few days we have had some very good fishing. With several trout around 1 pound to 3 pounds being landed. The trout I was getting was mostly all on #12 silver body blue hackle flies, with a red tag. I was fishing the Cains River at Moores Pool.
Other reports of even bigger trout being landed in the 6 & 7 pound range up river in the Blissfield area. Rick Tremholme landed a 4 pound trout on a brown bomber, he also landed some 1 & 2 pound trout as well around the Mouth of Cains area.
I also gave my buddy Damir Sehic a call from Fredericton to come over trout fishing but he came up with a bigger catch!! A 12 pound Atlantic Salmon covered in sea lice. Way to go Damir!! He was using a blue smurf just by the Mouth of Cains River. Another report of a salmon being caught in the Blissfield area as well on Tuesday. More reports of fish being landed on the NW Miramichi last week as well.
For Miramichi River Report tight lines,
Rodney Colford
