For G.R. Colford & Sons Limited on the Miramichi River. The water temperature this morning was 56 C and getting up to 62 C tonight. The water is very clear. The Barometric pressure was holding its own all day. With tomorrows high tide at 10:07 am at 1.50 meters high. And the temperature was 24 C on the river with a bit of wind. The next 7 days the weather will be from 14 C to 25 C and showers on a few days.
I fished the Blissfield area this morning until noon and got a couple trout about 12 inches. After lunch we tried the lower stretch by the Mouth of Cains River, we did manage to see a salmon but it was not interested in what we were using. After supper we decided to fish the Blissfield area again. This time we stopped at the Edmond Pool, and then I tyed a Under Taker on with jungle-cock. We picked a 1 1/2 pound trout up on the first 50 feet of the pool. I decided to go through the pool with the undertaker, It paid off for a few seconds as we hooked a nice salmon that gave several shakes before bending one of the double hooks! and leaving us disappointed. But still excited to hook that first fish!!
It was a good day on the water, with all our pools being very good height. I will try and be back late tomorrow night with another report on the Main South West Miramichi River from Doaktown to Quarryville.
Tight Lines,
Rodney Colford
