South West Miramichi River Report by Rod Colford. The water temperature is 59 F to 63 by late evening today. Weather over night is down to 10 C and Thursday a high of 24 and the next few days will almost reach a high of 30 C.

There are great amounts of fish in the lower stretches of the river from the mouth of Cain’s river to Quarryville. Also fish being seen on the Cain’s river all the way to Six Mile Pool. We are seeing some fish with sea lice and a lot of big fish are starting to show there selves.

Guest of mine today landed 4 grilse at the Vickers Bar. Flies were different patterns of flies including the Ally Shrimp, GP, Green Machine, Undertaker, Rob Special on a silver hook double #8. We also struck one on a Ruelan Special #2 single.

Joel Kitchen landed a grilse and lost 2 more just in the last 2 hours of the evenings fish. I also landed a grilse today on a Undertaker.

Yesterday was also a great day on the river. Rob Strange & father Bob got into several fish and landed a few on my water on the Lower Stretches of the River. Last week Rob fished up in the Upper stretches of the river with Chris Munn of Fredericton that has a couple Pools. Chris owns Fredericton Outfitters & Angler Ltd. A new Fly Shop in the city. Check his web site out at
http://www.frederictonoutfitters.com . They saw some fish but did not hook up.

My guest yesterday also landed 1 and lost 2 more. Pools like Hogan’s, Vickers Bar and the Half Bar pool are just starting to fish with the water level’s getting down. Swett’s Pool should start fishing this week as well. And don’t forget the Cain’s River Pools that are going to be fishing very good the rest of the season. Very exciting!

I have been having trouble the last week or so with our web site, I will be posting river reports at www.flyfishingconditions.com until the end of the season. Very sorry for the inconvenience.

Tight lines,

Guide Rodney Colford
