Fly fishing for bass, pike, and other warmwater species is nothing new. Just take a gander at a the 1889 publication of Book of the Black Bass Comprising its Complete Scientific and Life History Together with a

I fished New Hampshire and Vermont last weekend. The first night, I camped in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire. It is about 20 minutes north of Franconia Notch. Before fishing Profile Lake (so named for its position below a rock outcrop known as the Old Man in the Mountain that collapsed in 2003), I stopped at a collectible shop. The owner was a woman who was 90. She looked 70. This

I have never been a huge fan of Orvis rods. However, the new Helois is a joy forever. I recently fished an 9 foot, 8 weight. It was light as a feather, casts a mile and is so responsive. It is one of the BEST rods I have ever casted.

Every Memorial Day, I fish with my college buddies, Doug, Bill and Graham. We live far enough away that this is the only time we can get together. The boys and I fish an hour west of Ottawa in the Canadian heartland. It is spectacular fishing: five pound Smallmouth Bass and explosive Northern Pike. This is great except Doug, Bill and Graham spin fish, and I fly fish. I spin fish to be with

I waded Chatham with Carlo & Chippy D. over Father's Day.
The inside water was in the 70's. We caught some fish in the morning but it was tough. Lots of bait, mostly sand eels, but the fish were not feeding in the shallows.
The outside water on the wade or the deep water from a boat is your best bet. Use a fast sink to get down in the colder water. Pink Clouser and sand eel patterns worked
