October and November is the time for fall Atlantic salmon fishing in New Hampshire on the Merrimack and Pemigewasset Rivers, according to the New Hampshire Fish & Game.  N.H. WEEKLY FISHING REPORT - September 18, 2008.

Massachusetts Stocking Info

According to the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, more than 50,000 rainbow trout and brown trout will be stocked around the state this fall.  The stocking should begin no earlier than the last full week of September and will be complete by mid-October, says the Division.

I was vacationing with my family last week in North Conway, New Hampshire. I managed to sneak in some fishing. Luckily, the rain stopped, and it was sunny most of the week. The water came down to a fishable level, and the temperature was in the low sixties (more like late spring than August conditions).

I fished New Hampshire and Vermont last weekend. The first night, I camped in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire. It is about 20 minutes north of Franconia Notch. I have never been a huge fan of Orvis rods. However, the new Helois is a joy forever. I recently fished an 9 foot, 8 weight. It was light as a feather, casts a mile and is so responsive. It is one of the BEST rods I have ever casted.

I appreciate good gear, but I am a little scrimy. I have never paid more than $500.00 for a graphite rod. Even at the mid $700.00 price range, this rod is
