03/30/08 - GEORGIA TRIPLETAIL   [EDIT]
Scott Dykes

April marks the beginning of tripletail season on the Georgia coast. Every year these curiously peculiar fish show up along our beaches in large numbers. Some believe they are here to spawn but no one knows for sure. One thing is for sure, they present a very unique sight fishing opportunity for fly or light tackle anglers. We find these fish floating or “sunning” just under the surface. A well presented bait or fly will usually get it done.

The photo is from yesterday, we brought two to the boat and had shots at several more. Expect the fishing to get better and remain strong through the summer.
