JUST A REMINDER:   On the issue of proper etiquette on our waterways- give space to others who may be fishing or utilizing a particular area that you may want to fish; try not to fish one particular spot for an extended period of time, let others have a chance to fish there to; finally, respect private property boundaries and their patrons who utilize it.

Truckee River:  Winter Regulations-Trout Creek to State Line-Catch & Release Only!
The Truckee is fishing good with flows at 175cfs at the outflow from Lake Tahoe, 309cfs past the town of Truckee and 322cfs down at Farad.  Hatches will consist of Baetis and Midges now.  Nymphing is the most consistent method of taking fish on the main river now.  Prince Nymphs , Copper Johns, red or black midge imitations, Baetis nymphs, and Buddy Holographics in tan are all effective patterns right now.  For those who prefer to throw dries a Stimi with a dropper underneath has been taking some fish during the daytime hours.  Dry action has been sporadic during the day but if you happen to come across one it will either be a midge or a beatis hatch with the occasional Mahogany Dun.  Throwing  a streamer, sculpin, or wooly bugger under a fast sink line or tip has taken some big fish.  This section of Wild Trout water is being poached on a regular basis.  It’s up to you to protect it by calling 1-888-334-2258(DFG Caltip).
