Fishing on the Truckee is getting difficult due to the cold weather and frequent storm systems.  Flows are 340 cfs at Boca 351cfs at Farad and 342cfs in Reno.  Most of the success has been dead drifting small midge and nymph imitations under an indicator but some anglers have been catching some on dries, baetis or adult midge imitations.  Streamer fishing has been very sporadic now with water temps in the low 40’s and high 30’s.  You will now need to concentrate your efforts on the slower stretches of water and deep pools now as fish will be looking to conserve their energy.   This section of Wild Trout water is being poached on a regular basis.  It’s up to you to protect it by calling 1-888-334-2258(DFG Caltip).
