Truckee River: Winter Regulations-Trout Creek to State Line-Catch & Release Only!
Fishing has picked up again with the warmer weather we’ve had this week and parking has not been a issue with the melting snow . Flows are 150cfs at Truckee, 413cfs at Boca, and 492cfs at Farad. Success is being had by dead drifting small midge and nymph imitations and large stonefly nymphs under an indicator. Action on top has also been good on BWO(baetis), adult midge, Skwala stone,s and recently March Browns. Water temps are around 41 degrees through California while temps on the Nevada side are around 44 degrees. Concentrate your efforts now on stretches of water that have a good current flow through it but still offers the fish a soft feeding lie as fish will still be conserving their energy. Flows will change on a day to day basis. The river may come up in the afternoon with melting snow, be careful wading!
