Seven (7) Day Fly Fishing Forecast: Mixed weather should provide a variety of fishing conditions

It's Hopper Time on the river right now.  Recent weather inconsistencies have helped the midday fishery a bit on the overcast days....some BWO's showing...but for the most part big dries against the bank are your best bet for most of the day, with the evenings offering some smaller dry fly activity- caddisflies and little yellow stoneflies are happening here and there.  The fishing overall has been very good, with the nymphing dropping off to the point that a hopper with a dropper is likely better fished without the dropper, as the fish seem to be taking the dry just as often as the dropper, and tucking your fly up against the bank is much easier without a dropper to foul everything up.  Look for the big dry fishing to continue through the coming weeks, and as the sun comes back out, midday fishing will likely slow, and early am and late pm will accelerate.  The canyon is largely un-wadeable, but dapping hoppers from the bank can be a good method, and with most people in drift boats, you'll have some water to yourself.  Go Fish.
