Seven (7) Day Fly Fishing Forecast: more of the same....hoppers hoppers hoppers

Full-on hopper time on the Yakima.  Bring your A Game as the best presentations are bounced off the overhanging bankside vegetation. The hot weather trend kind of continues, but some overcast skies have helped keep the temps in the double digits.  No matter.  Hoppers are everywhere, and are fishing well throughout the day.  Mix in some little yellow sallies and caddis in the evenings and you're dry fly day will be perfectly balanced.  Dropper fishing can be effective, particularly when you have a nice big dry to dangle the nymph from, but making the perfect presentation off the grass is next to impossible with the nymph getting in the way.  Try different sizes and colors of hoppers, as they vary quite a bit in both respects throughout the river.  Work it.  The fishing is great...but you do really need a boat in the lower river.
