The hopper fishing continues to be excellent in the canyon, with flows holding relatively steadily. Wading in the lower river will still be out, but upper reaches are wadeable, and access in and around Cle Elum is good. With the next few days predicted to be partly cloudy and cooler, we may see a blue winged olive hatch of some sort, but the summer stones are still about, and evening time brings some decent caddis hatches. The best fishing still appears to be slapping the banks with hoppers...Attractor nymphs are almost always effective if you get tired of putting flies in the grass. Yellow sallies during the latter part of the day, as well as caddis imitations will be a good bet as well. Take it to the hoop.
