The river is getting a bit up and out of control with all the snow and rain of late.  A warm front is moving through and will likely keep the water dirty for several days, or until temperatures drop again. You may need to bring along your own sheep right now. It’s cold out there and wool or fleece is the only way to combat it. What does that mean for you? Low, clear water and no one on the water to battle with. Trout don’t stop feeding just because it’s cold you just have to change tactics a bit. Try a tandem nymph rig off gravel bars or inside bends and go small. Try a WD40, zebra midge, pheasant tail, mighty mite and the like in #18-24. You may also want to try to dead drift a big bugger. That will often take fish this time of year when nothing else will. Swinging streamers on sink tips will also give you a tug or two. Or you could go shopping…
